PreZero brand starts industrial rollout with Pfleiderer Spezialpapiere

Neckarsulm, January 12, 2022. Having successfully completed the research and development phase, OutNature, a brand of the environmental service provider PreZero, is now starting the production of silphie paper on an industrial scale. Together with Pfleiderer Spezialpapiere, it will start regular production of the innovative and sustainable silphie paper in January 2022 in Teisnach in Bavaria.

With Pfleiderer, silphie paper will be offered in a new low grammage range of 35-120 g/m². In addition, new types of paper can now also be introduced, making mixtures with recycled paper possible in addition to those with fresh fibers.

“Our partnership with Pfleiderer offers us the opportunity to set up the production of silphie paper on an economical and sustainable basis. What’s more, we’re also expanding our product portfolio from the fast-growing and bee-friendly silphium plant in terms of grammage and raw material,” says Thomas Tappertzhofen, Managing Director of OutNature.

“With the production of silphie paper in resource-saving, low grammages, we are setting new standards as part of our PT ECO-FIBER^® concept. We’re convinced that silphie fiber represents a regional and renewable fiber alternative for the paper industry and so we’re pleased that we can contribute our experience in the use of alternative fibers and the production of barrier paper to the new partnership with OutNature. With the planned commissioning of a new biomass cogeneration plant in the second half of 2022 and the subsequent climate-neutral thermal energy production, we can also make an important contribution to optimizing the climate balance of silphie papers produced in Teisnach,” said Karl Augustin, Head of Product Management and Marketing at Pfleiderer Spezialpapiere, outlining the joint cooperation.
